Our March 2024 Humble monthly just released bringing 8 more games +4 discount codes to different DLC for games in this Monthly choice and previous ones..
(none of this post is meant as a judgement on Humble. I just find the numbers fascinating and it's fun to calculate the values)
This month for $17.40 ( all prices in CAD) we find ourselves with an impressive $303.13 worth of games (+$62.61 from last month) if bought on steam and $240.00 (+$18.42 from last month) if bought on humble. The only difference in prices this month comes from the sales on Humbles side.

Since I've started making these posts, this is the highest value Monthly Choice we've gotten. And it also feels like a fairly strong one too with our choices of games. I’m most excited to play Citizen Sleeper and Soulstice from this month's choice. Citizen sleeper is supposed to be a big Roleplaying experience with the freedom that TTRPG’s bring. And from its initial appearance it looks like it fits right in with this months theme of “Choice” for the types of games I’m focusing on. And then Soulstice just looks like a fun action packed adventure game. Watching the trailer had me craving that kind of experience.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar doesn’t hold the best reviews with a 59% positive rate on steam. And from reading them it makes sense. The general consensus I get is that it looks great but not worth the price tag. And even if it was cheaper, it’s only worth it for previous Warhammer Age of Sigmar fans. There’s just too many gameplay problems for a regular RTS fan to get into it without having a passion for the lore of Warhammer.

I honestly forgot Nioh existed. I never really got into the Souls-like genre but even with being a little over 3 years old, this sequel is still seen as an incredible entry in the genre. I don’t know how it fairs as an entry level game into the genre, as if I played it right now that’s what it would pretty much be for me. But There’s not a part of it that scares me off. I hope I’m not mistaking games but I’m also pretty sure that Nioh’s boss fights were seen super positively with some of its special counter mechanics. So it would be interesting to see how that plays out in the second one.

I thought that Saints Row was a remake of the first one but I guess it’s more of a reboot. I honestly don’t know much about Saints Row except that in one of the last games you could run around with a giant purple dildo that you’d running around smacking your enemies with. From the consensus of it’s mixed reviews, if you’re a hard core saints row fan, this might not be the game for you. But if it’s your first entry into Saints Row, you might have a good time.

Hello Citizen Sleeper. You artistically and mechanically interesting game. It gives off cyberpunk tabletop roleplaying vibes wixed with a singleplayer boardgame gameplay. I don’t really know how else to describe it. People rave about the gameplay, its mechanics, its writing. The most interesting review I saw compared it to a Visual Novel with resource management. And that alone makes this one of the most interesting titles from this months Humble Choice.
![Key art of Black Skylands where a girl looks back at us, holding the helm of an airship while in battle against another airship that is exploding](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/eb8504_74d8c4af432c4a8188f51af1c3ef292b~mv2.jpg/v1/fill/w_460,h_215,al_c,q_80,enc_avif,quality_auto/eb8504_74d8c4af432c4a8188f51af1c3ef292b~mv2.jpg)
At first glance I was super interested in Black Skylands but the more I looked into it the less I was sure. I love open world survival sandbox games but I tend to prefer the outside of combat aspects of them the most. But it looks like this one is fairly combat driven and focused. It seems to be fairly well received but there are some complaints that when it was originally a part of EA it was better. Which I didn’t think I’d ever hear that ha ha. But I guess it’s missing some of its features and the story has changed. Which if you fell in love with specific aspects of a game, I can understand being frustrated when it changes. But it looks like first time newcomers to the game are enjoying it a fair amount.

I don’t know what it was about this game that booked me. I think its partially the art style, and partially that I haven't played a heavy action intense game in a while. From the reviews it seems to have a lot going with it but also some shortcomings. Strong character design, combat is fun, and overall its a good experience. But there are some issues with some fixed cameras, voice acting, and a slow introduction into the game. But I hope that it’s going to be fun.

Afterimage was one of my contenders for the game I was most excited to play. It’s got a beautiful art style, and I read a lot about its metroidvania aspects. Although not so great things about it’s story. But for myself, I’ve never really been a big metroidvania fan. I think the longest I’ve ever spent playing a metroidvania game was the 3D Metroid Prime game for the GameCube. And at that point, it wasn’t even a metroidvania game anymore. And before that was Barbie Magic Genie Adventure for the Gameboy Color.

And then lastly, Destroyer: The U-Boat Hunter. Which comes in as the last game listed on the Monthly Choice and the last of all of these that I’m interested in playing. I’ve never been super into war simulation games. I don’t know what about it that hasn’t interested me. I’m sure I would enjoy it because it has the simulation aspects that I enjoy. But we’ll see. I’ll get to it eventually.
And how did things go from last month?

Not great in terms of playing Monthly Choice games. I didn’t get to any of them. I’ve been getting so many review keys lately its been more challenging to keep up with playing games on the library. Although, arguably i did still play more games than I added into the library. I think. I really should start doing a monthly roundup, looking at how many games were added into the library that month vs how many I played.
What about you? Any games from this month looking enticing? And how did your games go from last month's bundle?
